Summary:
About Climatebase:
Climatebase is the world's leading platform for climate careers. We're mobilizing the world’s top talent to work on climate, while helping climate tech startups and environmental nonprofits hire the mission-driven talent they need to succeed.
We're a small team of passionate climate-concerned technologists, operators, and community builders. Our founding team members come from leading technology companies including Slack, Netflix, and Gusto, as well as Make School, a tech education company backed by Y Combinator, Andreessen Horowitz, Kapor Capital, and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian. Our advisors, allies, and partners include leaders from Project Drawdown, New Energy Nexus, The Anthropocene Institute, Urban Us, and many of the climate organizations hiring on Climatebase.
Climatebase recently joined Urban-X, a leading climate tech accelerator. During this time, we're focusing on product development, growth, and the launch of our upcoming Climatebase Fellowship.
About the Climatebase Fellowship:
Since climatebase.org went live in July 2020, we're proud to have helped nearly 500,000 people discover job opportunities at over 3,000+ climate-focused employers on our platform.
Hundreds of climate tech companies and environmental nonprofits have used Climatebase to attract mission-driven hires by posting their jobs on our platform, sourcing talent from our talent directory of over 25,000 candidate profiles, and attracting applicants through our popular weekly newsletter read by nearly 30,000 people.
Along the way, we've learned a lot about what it takes for people to successfully launch into a climate career. The first and most critical step, of course, is simply knowing which climate job opportunities even exist. Addressing that challenge has been our company's starting point.
But we've discovered that in order to be hired, it often takes more than merely cold-applying to jobs. Candidates are far more likely to be successfully hired if they:
Although climate tech is rapidly growing, it's still a nascent space, and there's still a lack of well-established professional networks in the space — which represents a major hurdle for jobseekers to overcome, considering that roughly 70% of people get jobs through their professional networks. Nor are there well-established re-skilling programs or alternative educational pathways designed to help people transition into climate tech.
At Climatebase, we see these challenges as opportunities. We're launching the Climatebase Fellowship to address this challenges, by providing top talent with the foundational education, professional connections, and hands-on experience needed to accelerate their transition into a climate career. You can learn more about the program on the Fellowship page here.
