About the Role

We are looking for a full stack engineer who is passionate about helping to fight climate change and creating advanced digital solutions for use in the carbon offset market. Our technical platforms will set the standard for landowners and forestry consultants across the US. You will be part of an energetic team that fosters a spirit of cooperation, collaboration, and success. The initial technical architecture will include the products listed below, as well as aspects of AI/machine Learning, satellite imagery, Forestry/Land Management tools and geospatial data extensions required to deliver content-rich platforms for the carbon offset market. What You'll Do

  • Code and test custom application software for carbon offset projects 
  • Engage in development projects using an accountable agile methodology 
  • Adhere to technical architecture and standards and create code using best practices for maintainability
  • Resolve system errors and support ongoing user operations as needed 
  • Participate in code reviews, code management practices and other procedures established as development standards
  • Conduct user reviews and demonstrations of emerging platform solutions
  • Continually expand and understand knowledge of geospatial data components and products in use at Finite Carbon or emerging in the marketplace

 

What You'll Bring

  • 6+ years working with Angular/Javascript/Typescript, PostgresSQL, with PostGIS extensions for geospatial data, and Python/FastAPI
  • Solid knowledge of relational database products and SQL
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a cloud environment
  • Technical understanding of cloud-native applications and a DevOps / SRE (Site Reliability Engineer) mentality
  • Working knowledge of Docker 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience applying creative approaches to difficult problems 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a dynamic distributed team 
  • A passion to work on mitigating climate change - one of the world’s most pressing problems 

 

Nice to Have Skills or Experience

  • Familiarity with geospatial data and tools (e.g. ArcGIS)
  • Understanding of satellite imagery technologies used in land management and forestry projects
  • Knowledge and interest in AI and Machine Learning 
  • Experience of any type in Forestry or Natural Resources industry
